Fonderies du Poitou: start of work to revitalize the site in favor of a green energy hub

A new stage for the reindustrialization of old foundries
On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, TSE, a French solar energy producer, celebrated the start of the revitalization work at Fonderies du Poitou, marking a key step in the transformation of this historic industrial site into a green energy hub, which is scheduled to be commissioned in 2027.
A reindustrialization project focused on green energies
The Fonderies d'Ingrandes site was taken over in 2023 by a consortium formed by the companies TSE, a French photovoltaic company, and Lhyfe, to build a real industrial park focused on green energies and the circular economy, in particular with the installation of a fleet of photovoltaic panels and a unit for the production of green and renewable hydrogen. The Oyré technical landfill center is taken over entirely by TSE and its land will be devoted exclusively to the production of solar energy (45 GWh).
A major project for the territory
This project, which has been in preparation for more than three years, is carried out in consultation with the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, the Greater Châtellerault community, the Prefecture of Vienne and the town halls of Ingrandes and Oyré. It should generate between 250 and 300 jobs in the long term for a total investment of several hundred million euros. The electricity produced by the photovoltaic park will represent the equivalent of the consumption of the city of Poitiers, i.e. around 90,000 inhabitants.
Pierre-Yves Lambert, CEO of TSE :” Thanks to the commitment of all actors, today we are launching work to revitalize the site to bring back to life the former Foundries in Poitou. This new stage is a great satisfaction and is the culmination of a major local and national project. We are concretely demonstrating that solar electricity, sovereign, green and competitive, contributes to the reindustrialization of our country and local revitalization. Our ambition is to make this site a model of industrial reconversion at the service of the energy transition while contributing to the economic development of the territory. ”
” The Region is delighted with this new stage, which marks the realization of an emblematic project for the “green” conversion of a major industrial site in New Aquitaine. Focused on carbon-free energies and the circular economy, this project, led by the consortium created by Lhyfe and TSE, will create hundreds of qualified and non-relocatable jobs. A strategic project in the current geopolitical context. It is fully in line with our Neo Terra Roadmap and our desire to become the first eco-responsible region in France. It is a second wind for the Châtelleraudais employment area, which has been heavily impacted by successive crises in recent years. ”, underlines Alain Rousset, President of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region.
” The industrial park project focused on green energies, in particular led by TSE, is in line with the 2019/2024 Climate Air Energy Plan (PCAET) of the Urban Community, which I have the honor of chairing. This PCAET has set ambitious goals for our territory by 2030, and in particular to produce 32% of local renewable energy. Today, the results are already convincing: the share of green electricity in global electricity consumption has doubled in 5 years, and now stands at more than 27%. Thank you all! ” explains Jean-Pierre Abelin, Mayor of Châtellerault and President of Grand Châtellerault.
” Cardem is proud to support TSE in this flagship project, resolutely focused on the future, to reconvert an industrial site into a photovoltaic park. Beyond our recycling approach, which is fully integrated into our dismantling processes, our activities are part of an ambitious approach to reducing our environmental footprint, around three areas supported by the VINCI Group: acting for the climate, optimizing resources through the circular economy and preserving natural environments. This project to reconvert Fonderies du Poitou is therefore in perfect harmony with our commitments, in the heart of the territories. ” says Nicolas Masson, Regional Director of Cardem.
A tribute to the site's industrial past
Recognizing the history of the Poitou Foundries, TSE, a photovoltaic expert, is working in collaboration with the association of former foundries in order to preserve the memory of the site and its former workers. Specific actions will be put in place to honor this industrial heritage.
